Position Description

We are seeking a Technical Delivery Lead to join the Partner Strategy Team. The Technology Delivery Lead is responsible for leading the successful implementation of Ed-Fi business line products, including Starting Blocks and Stadium, with a portfolio of our partner school districts and state education agencies. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, project management expertise, the ability to solve complex problems independently, and effective communication skills to drive project success. This role will be fully remote.

  • This is a full-time, salaried exempt position with the expectation that specific periods of work around project deadlines or peak loads during the year may require additional time commitment to support completion. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the partner to break down contracts into deliverables and create a detailed project plan. This will require possessing or quickly building a working knowledge of the scope and function of the Ed-Fi Operational Data Store and APIs and the EDU data warehouse.
  • Coordinate with the internal team to assign clear owners for project and product deliverables and align on delivery timelines. 
  • Work with the Product Development Manager (PDM) to assess if the project deliverables require customizations or net new feature development. Provide input to product roadmap prioritization to ensure customizations and new feature delivery aligns with the project timeline.  
  • Build partner’s understanding of the key steps in the implementation and set their expectation about the time and information that will be required of them.  
  • Guide partners through key steps of implementation and gather input internal engineering teams will need to deploy Starting Blocks and Stadium.  
  • Identify and navigate risks and scope changes as the implementation progresses.  

Implement EA Products:

  • Work with the partner to document the use cases that the data from Starting Blocks and Stadium will fulfill. 
  • Assist partner in identifying the source systems that will need to be integrated with Starting Blocks and Stadium to provide the data needed for the partner’s use case.  
  • Coordinate with the partner and internal engineering and analyst teams to determine the best method to move data into Starting Blocks and Stadium.  
  • Provide partners with a basic understanding of Ed-Fi concepts such as API resources, relationships between data domains, assigning and managing claim sets, provisioning API key/secret, and role-based application security.  
  • Guide partners in setting up source system vendor Ed-Fi API integration, including coaching through descriptor mapping and basic troubleshooting of API errors. 
  • Lead partners through QA of data landing in the Ed-Fi ODS and Stadium, providing guidance on data quality issues. This will require using tools such as Amazon CloudWatch, Postman, and Snowsight.  

Coordination and Communication:

  • Facilitate internal and external project coordination meetings and working sessions.  
  • Work with the project coordinator to track project deliverable status and provide transparent information to partners on the project's status. 
  • Coordinate information gathering and sharing across internal teams and with partners. 
  • Ensure thorough project documentation for organizational learning and partner understanding. 

Contract Management:

  • Coordinate with contracts lead to ensure contracts and DRAs are signed. 
  • Work with Business Development and partners to clarify use cases and implementation endpoints. 
  • Manage internal budget and invoice process for assigned projects. 
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization, vendors, partners, and industry peers.
  • Safeguard confidentiality, privacy and security of organization and customer (PHI) information
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of education data, data warehousing, and data reporting. 
  • Ability to independently diagnose and solve data related problems
  • Experience in utilizing tools to query and manipulate data. This could range from using languages such as SQL or Python to building reports in PowerBI, Tableau, etc.  
  • Previous experience managing projects in a project or development management tool such as JIRA, FreshDesk, Monday, Trello, Smartsheet, etc. 
  • Organizational & project management skills.  
  • Ability to juggle/track multiple time-sensitive tasks on overlapping timelines. 
  • Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity or shifting timelines. 
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, and with a diverse team. 
  • Strong skills in spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentation software, and website management (specifically Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint; and Google Drive, Docs, Forms, and Spreadsheets). 
  • Excellent communicator with experience interacting or supporting collaborative work. 
  • Customer-service orientation to working with other teams and partners. 
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, utilizing proper grammar, syntax and excellent business acumen.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a high paced environment with limited direction.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (or list other software or similar skills).
  • Comfortable with taking initiative as well as sharing responsibility in a team-based, collaborative environment at a fast-paced nonprofit organization.

Work Environment and Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in numerous conversations throughout the day on the telephone, in writing, on-line zoom and in person to provide information, collaboration and assistance.
  • Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Ability to complete job duties where there may be eyestrain due to constant viewing of computer screens.
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, follow instructions and be able to comprehend written material or requests.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use reason and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience managing and orchestrating projects in an education organization, education technology company, or working for a state agency or school district in a technical administrative role or senior technical role. 
  • Master’s degree, or bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience (3 years in an implementation capacity) in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Education preferred.  Applicants with degrees in other areas may be considered. 
  • Experience in implementing and/or supporting Ed-Fi deployments is strongly preferred. 

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary for the Technical Delivery Lead position is $90,000, based on experience. EA also has a generous benefits package including:
